Hello, this is Cooper, Jason, and Dave with your daily blog post!
Monday, we welcomed the Alaskan students to the first day of Day Camp! We were excited to see 44 campers show up, and we’re praising God for such an awesome turnout. It was especially fun for Cooper, Anaya, and the leaders who came last year to reconnect with familiar faces, while the rest of us enjoyed meeting all the first-timers.
Our lesson today was about how you don’t need superpowers to be a hero. Even though the speaker stopped working, that didn’t stop everyone from enthusiastically singing worship songs with hand motions!
The morning was packed with tie-dyeing shirts and an intense biathlon competition. In the afternoon we played trivia, Alaskan Tag, and plenty of keep-away. We also got to learn more about Alaskan culture from some of the students throughout the day.
After Day Camp, we made the always-dangerous* trip to the grocery store and may have gone a little ballistic on the sugar and caffeine. Once we got back, we spent some time smacking pickleballs around in the shed.
Because the Alaska rain just wouldn’t quit, we moved our campfire indoors (minus the actual fire): We gathered in the cafeteria to share life stories, laugh together, and talk through our devotional about encouragement. It was a great way to end an awesome first day of camp.

Way to be flexible with the weather and the sound system! I’m going to listen to “My Lighthouse” later and pretend I’m there with y’all.
Praying the weather dries up some more so activities don’t need to be moved around as much. Proud of y’all for being flexible! Eat some gummy bears for me!!

What an amazing turnout! Looks like you made the best of things and welcomed the campers to Day Camp with enthusiasm and by shining your bright light on a rainy day.
