Alaska Middle School GO Team

Saturday – Heading Home

Jul 26, 2026 | 0 comments

Hello all,

Your kid is probably at home while you are reading this, but Emily needed someone to do this blog, so I volunteered. I hope when you are reading this that you have leg room, because I am writing this from a cramped plane.

The word that was most used to describe day camp was chaotic. The adjective that modified that word was “good”. On Monday, we saw a little bit more of an uncontrolled chaotic. As the week progressed, it turned into a good chaotic. We saw people connect, serve each other and, most importantly, grow in their faith. Seeing that was super cool, and made me realize just how tight this community is (I heard a few Alaskan students saying that).

Our day started off with cleaning (ugghh) and packing (even more ugghh). We then proceeded into breakfast which was followed by a short devotional time. After loading the vans, we said our goodbyes to Eaglecrest staff, and left for Anchorage. An hour and a ton of van karaoke later, we arrived to the beautiful sight of souvenirs and street hot dogs. Taking in Alaska for the last time (maybe), we spent the afternoon in Anchorage and then headed to the airport to catch the flight that I am on right now.

Alaska was a breath of fresh air (literally and metaphorically) for all of us. We thank and congratulate the students graduating from MSM (Alyssa, Isaac, Abram, Cooper, Jason, and Riley), while also congratulating the leaders for dealing with us hooligans. God bless your day!

-Silas
