We finished day camp with a bang, or should we say a splash? Per Eaglecrest tradition, Friday is water day and the teammates who bonded so much this week suddenly turned on each other… with squirt guns!
In the morning, Director Jim led us and the campers through some fun teambuilding and goofy games. The games had us laughing and pairing up with new and old friends throughout! We enjoyed pizza for lunch, a final chapel and worship session, and then moved into the event of the day – water wars!
Buckets, squirt guns, water balloons, and hoses! Dunking, chasing, and teaming up! There wasn’t a dry inch of skin (or pair of socks) at the end. The sunshine and laughter were top tier; a perfect end to our week of camp.
This afternoon we tidied up the camp grounds in preparation for the community potluck! Families from the surrounding community came out to share food, conversation, and music with each other. Our students were excited to see that some of the campers we’ve gotten to know came back for dinner! We played a lot of 9-Square and were entertained by live music performed by some community members who came to the potluck.
We ended the day around the campfire, reflecting on how the day went and what God revealed to us through our devotions and the interactions we had. We’ll spend a little time hanging out before bed before our kids hit the pillow for the last time in Alaska.
Saturday will be goodbye to Eaglecrest and Alaska. See y’all soon!
Fun facts:
- We went through at least 1,000 water balloons!
- 32 pizzas were consumed at lunch!
- With our team included, at least 124 people attended the community potluck!

Looks like a fun way to end a fabulous week. Safe travels home!
