SLEEPY SUNDAY

Jul 20, 2026 | 11 comments

Alyssa and Anaya here – on our first full day here in Alaska we had a full morning consisting of breakfast, devo time, and church. For breakfast we enjoyed an amazing meal of pancakes and sausage after a full day of travel. We walked to church this morning and enjoyed the long sermon about Jesus feeding the five thousand and walking on water despite our sleepy heads. After the service we walked back to Eaglecrest and had lunch. We then headed off to our first hike of the week, which was to a beautiful waterfall. Even though Emily told us that it was a very flat journey, it consisted of hilly muddy areas which we fought through. Isaac took his drone out and flew it by the waterfall and got some great pictures. We headed back to Eaglecrest with muddy shoes, and tired legs. The ride home was very chaotic, but we made it back to camp. We then played outdoor games and had our first campfire. Throughout the day we made new friends with other people staying at Eaglecrest, and new memories with the people on our team that we have been getting to know for the past few months.

Day camp starts tomorrow! We’re so excited to meet all the Alaskan students

Hey friends! Way to stay awake during church AND hike hilly, muddy terrain! I know how rough Sunday can be. You guys can do hard things. 😊

I love that Isaac has a drone on the trip! It is going to be awesome seeing the views of Camp and the mountains from a different (and high!) angle.

Is Grant’s cup of awesome counter how many cups of coffee he has had? 😂

Thanks for writing the blog today, Anaya & Alyssa!
