Meet the 2019 team – Josh!

Hi! My name is Joshua Chen and I’m going to be a ninth grader at Middleton High School this fall! I’m super excited for this opportunity to get out of our borders here in Madison and make a difference in the lives of people elsewhere. I want to share with the kids in Alaska God’s love and teach them that we’re all broken people, but through Jesus Christ we are forgiven and saved!

This will be my first time going to Alaska and I can’t wait to see what God has planned for our team!

Meet the 2019 team – Jon!

I am one of the two children of Jessica and David. I am in 7th grade at Glacier Creek Middle School (in Middleton, Wisconsin) and will be turning 13 on August 4th. I love to play card and board games (mostly Magic the Gathering or chess) and to read! I volunteer at the nursery at Blackhawk and have been on a much smaller scale trip called Madison Missions where my group and I volunteered to do many things: from delivering meals to those in need, to helping out at the community center, to pulling invasive garlic mustard from natural areas in the city. I have enjoyed all of these experiences and want to do more to help others, that is why I applied for this trip.

Meet the 2019 team – John!

Hello, my name is John, and I think I’m overdue for an adventure.  So I think I’ll fly 3000 miles away from home with dozens of middle-schoolers!

I am one of the leaders going on the Alaska trip this year, it will be my very first missions trip and my first time in Alaska.  This is a great group of young people and I am looking forward to serving alongside them (and the other leaders too).  I pray that God will work through this team and that during this time each one of us will experience God in a fresh new way as we serve.

Meet the 2019 team – Heath!

Hi readers!  I’m Heath, I’m 13, and one of the seventh graders on the team.  When I’m not on a mission trip (just kidding, this is my first), I like to perform with VACT and local (Mount Horeb) productions, golf, draw, and game: video AND board. 🙂  I’m excited to see the sights of Alaska, and I feel blessed to be a part of this mission trip to feel closer to God. I’m looking forward to making friends with the local students.

Meet the 2019 team – Grace!

My name is Grace, and I’m going to be a freshman at Middleton High School this fall. I like rock climbing, biking, singing, playing the ukulele, and traveling, as well as having fun with my family and friends. I’ve never been to Alaska before, and I can’t wait! I’ve heard so many great things about it, and I want to serve and help in any way I can. Thanks so much for your support and prayers!!

Meet the 2019 Team – Colin!

My name is Colin. I’m am a fourteen year old going into freshman year at Edgewood High School. I have three older sisters, two of which have be on Blackhawk Missions trips. I enjoy playing the guitar and making new friends. I’m always open to trying new stuff and doing new things.

I want to go to Alaska mainly because as I said I’ve had a sister who went to Alaska two years ago. She came home and said amazing things about it the. Last year my friend Malachi also went and said it was great. These stories have made me want to go plus it doesn’t hurt that I love helping people.

Meet the 2019 team – Brayden!

My name is Brayden but some people call me jimmy (long story). I am going to be a freshman at oregon high school next september, I am really excited for this trip to make new connections, see a new place and get some time to myself. I started going to blackhawk in 2013 and I just started going to middle school ministries last year through my friend: Caleb R and i have really enjoyed it. I hope to bring the same enthusiasm that I bring to homegroup to alaska. Thank you for your donations, support and prayers!!

Meet the 2019 team – Brandon!

Hey y’all, I’m Brandon and I’m super excited to be one of the adult leaders on the Alaska team! I moved to the Madison area, from Virginia, a few years ago with my wife, Donna and currently spend most of my time teaching social studies to high school students. When I’m not working, I enjoy watching sports, especially Virginia Tech during the football and basketball seasons – Go Hokies! I also enjoy spending time with my wife, our cat, Burruss, and getting to explore Wisconsin.

This will be my first-time visiting Alaska, so I’m very excited to be on this trip! I’ve always wanted to visit Alaska and am looking forward to seeing some of its natural beauty, as well as building relationships with those around the Sutton, AK area. I’m also excited about our team and can’t wait to see how God will use us while we’re in Alaska. Please continue to pray for God’s Will and that we’ll have a heart of servitude and fellowship for those in Alaska.

I want to give a quick shout out to all of you for supporting us – Thank you! We are very grateful and humbled by your support. None of this could be possible without you and your prayers! In Christ, Brandon
