Meet our 2018 Team – Quint

My name is Quint and I am very excited for my third trip to Eaglecrest! I am fifteen and am headed into tenth grade. I can’t wait to continue my relationships with the kids I have already bonded with and with continue my journey of faith in Jesus Christ. I am so blessed by another opportunity to serve my God.

A little about myself, I really enjoy going on mission trips. Besides going to AK I have also gone to Texas to help with hurricane disaster relief. I love serving God and I really like to volunteer my time doing things at church. Some of my hobbies are: serving God, hunting, fishing, atv riding, snowmobiling, running, and drumming!

I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for my team and I this year!

Thanks to everyone who has supported us to make this trip happen.

Meet the 2018 Team – Anthony

My name is Anthony and this is my third time leading the AlaskaGo Team!

I’m on staff at Blackhawk Church as part of the children’s ministry team, and I also serve as a leader with middle school ministry. An interesting thing that happened to me this week is that multiple people mentioned that I’m a fast runner with flip flops on. These types of comments are a reason why I enjoy serving with kids and families! The most life giving experiences for me are playing games and activities with students. Being outside and playing sports is a favorite, as is staying indoors and playing board games. I’m an ambivert (60% introvert and 40% extrovert), which means most of my free time is spent alone. I enjoy exercise, movies, and video games. When I’m with people, I love love love cook outs and picnics. Some people describe me as a person who is always ready to eat food, and I’m looking forward to my favorite summer foods: Watermelon, corn on the cob, and spare ribs.  I applied to serve on the Alaska Go Team because I am passionate about the way Eaglecrest connects communities. The best part is seeing students from two different states connect through the love of God and establish meaningful friendships. Blackhawk Church’s middle school team of parents and volunteers invest so much energy into students during the school year, and this summer mission trip allows me to visibly see the fruit of those investments. Our students are incredibly unique and constantly inspire me to be God’s hands and feet. I’m excited to be a part of this mission, and also excited to spend some quiet time with the beauty that’s in Alaska. This mission trip is literally a breath of fresh air. Please pray that we take the time to slow down and appreciate in the 22 hours of sunlight!

Meet the 2018 Team – Jeffrey

I was born in Albany, New York. I am 13 years old and I am in 8th grade. I have lived in Madison for 4 years. Next year I will be going into Middleton High School. I am coming on this trip to meet new people and learn some skills. Some stuff you should know about me are that I play piano, do karate, and am normally on the computer. I have a younger brother named Jayden who is is 9 and going into 4th grade. I am happy to be on this trip and to be able to experience new things.

Meet the 2018 Team – Geoff Weber

Hi, my name is Geoff, and I am one of the adult leaders for this trip. I am originally from Nebraska and after college about three years ago I left there to come to Madison and work at Epic. About a year later, I got married to Emma and she moved up with me. I enjoy reading, basketball, golf, and board games. I started volunteering with MSM last year at the prompting of my wife, Emma, who is also going on this trip. During the school year, I helped lead the Verona home group.
I’m really excited to be going to Alaska. It’s a place I’ve always wanted to visit because of its natural beauty, and I’m incredibly blessed to get the opportunity to go with such a great group of people. My mother is pretty jealous because she has always wanted to visit, too. You’ll go someday, Mom! I’m also excited to see what God is going to do on this trip in the lives of the students going on the trip, the lives of the Alaskan students I have yet to meet, and in the lives of the leaders, too.
Thank you all for your prayers and support. We are blessed to have such a great network of people supporting us as we go. Thanks!

Meet the 2018 Team – Emma Weber

My name is Emma Weber and this will be my first time going on this trip! I moved to Wisconsin about 2 years ago and have been part of MSM at Blackhawk ever since. This last year at Blackhawk I was honored to be a part of the middle school Revolution team. After hearing so many amazing things about this mission trip I decided it would be such a great opportunity to know some of my middle school students more and meet new middle school students as well.

While I am looking forward to the amazing views I’ve heard so much about, hiking is not really more forte. I am, however, very much looking forward to this team of wonderful people bonding and looking forward to serving the people we meet and getting to know them. I’ve never been on a mission trip where the students are truly the leaders, where they are the ones taking the initiative, I’m anticipating all the ways God will use them on this trip and help them grow. I have no doubt he will also be working in my life and am anxious to see in what ways.
In my free time I’m constantly cooking and trying out new recipes. I also enjoy playing golf with my husband, Geoff, and feel very blessed to get to go on this trip with him. I adore writing and receiving letters and enjoy reading a good book.
Thank you to everyone who supported our team…we are ever so grateful for you!

Meet the 2018 Team – Kaitlyn

My name is Kaitlyn and I’m fourteen years old. I will be a freshman at Mount Horeb Middle School this August. I have three awesome younger siblings, two amazing parents, and two great dogs. I enjoy cooking for my family, singing in cars, spending time with loved ones, serving in the church nursery, and praying about everything.

I am going on this trip because I want to share God’s word with people, share my blessings with them, and to show them that they are loved. I also want to grow in my relationship with Christ. This is my first time going to Alaska and I’m looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me there. I’ve loved attending homegroups and Madison Missions with Blackhawk so I’m very excited to go be a part of their Alaska GO Team.

Meet the 2018 Team – Sarahi

Hi my name is Sarahi I’m 14 and in the fall I’ll be a sophomore at Verona Area High School. I’m both social and quiet so the things I like to do varies on my mood, but I like to play my ukulele, photography ,taking care of kids (especially this one girl named Noelle), listening to music, taking walks, random car rides with my dad ,and just being around people.
I was part of team last year and just being in Alaska brought me closer to God. I really connect to God in nature, because it reminds me of his glorious work. With all honesty , I’m a person who can’t be off their phone that long, but while being in Alaska you get this sort of relief being disconnected off your phone. Whether your sitting in the campfire, playing in the fields, or doing Devotional in the fields (me), you can definitely feels God presence. For me nothing makes me happier then being outside whether rain or shine, or in Wisconsin’s case snow!
I cant wait to get to Alaska, so we can all teach the Alaskan student more about God and his amazing glory and to build strong friendships while were there. I hope on this trip I make strong connections with not only the Alaska students and the Smith family , but also with this fun, energetic team.

Meet the 2018 Team – Audrey

I am Audrey.  I am a freshman in high school, and this is my second trip to Alaska. Last year working with and sharing with the Alaska campers was a life changing experience.  I am looking forward to sharing Jesus with the campers again this year.  I am also looking forward to waking up to a view of the stunning mountains.  Mornings in Alaska are full of the sites and sounds of the beauty unique to Alaska.  Last year I had the opportunity to grow both spiritually and socially.  I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to join the Alaska Team again this year and can’t wait to make new memories.
